It's been a while.

It has been quite a while since I last posted anything here. I guess the main things that I've been up -aside from work - have been settling into the new flat and vacation in the Netherlands. NL was amazing - the perfect mixture of sightseeing, eating, drinking and chilling out. We got really lucky with the weather so we visited Zandvoort to spend a day sat on the beach in the sun.
The new flat is totally awesome. I could just do with some more storage for bits and pieces. And there are more pictures to put on the wall but it feels like home!

Break...

April was a good month for gigs! The highlight was probably going to see Ryan Adams in Nottingham. The gig was amazing, cocktails were drunk etc etc. Not so great was having to check out the hotel at 11am the next morning. Fortune was on our side though as we found a lovely little deli that served food and my eggs benedict craving was satisfied!

I haven't really felt like blogging recently. In between working and flat hunting and various other life activities I don't really feel like using my laptop too much. I guess I don't feel much like sharing? I don't know. I'm sure I'll get back into it at some point.

I follow some talented people on various different social media platforms and they have been making some kick ass things recently! I thought I'd compile a little wants list. If money was no option these would be mine!!

Cocktails.

So I haven't been very productive recently but I did manage to leave my flat for long enough to shoot the new spring/summer cocktail menu for Wax Bar. I think these three shots are my favourites. I am all about blood oranges guys! They are amazing.

York.

I have been so bad at blogging recently. And jewellery making. I've been working and procrastinating. I should've called Nexgen casting about my silver bones a week ago!! I'm terrible.
I figure I'll get this weekend and the bank holiday out of the way and then hopefully I'll get back on it.

I took these photos in York last week. The weather was amazing! Next time I go I really want to visit the tower at the Minster.

Sad times.

Today I had to say goodbye to a old furry friend. Sam has been a member of our family for 20 years and he will be missed.

I headed back to Leeds and bought a few things to cheer myself up. Fancy juice, madeleines and a bunch of hyacinth. This evening I'm going to make a start on shooting images for my next look book. I'll be shooting in a different way to what I normally do so I'm hoping it turns out ok! Luckily I've got a friend helping me - if it goes well expect to see the images some point over the weekend!

Anyone who has a furry friend in their life go give them a hug please!

Ring... update!

Silver smithing update guys! Here's the ring that I mentioned in my other post... finished!

Ok that's two rings! And also a bracelet. The top ring is the same one that I showed you in the other photos. All of these were made from vintage sterling silver spoons.

I've been doing some research and coming up with the best way of incorporating the quartz chunks into rings but unfortunately I couldn't work on it this week due to a couple of birthdays coming up that I wanted to make things for. I'll be in the workshop a couple of times next week though so hopefully I'll be able to post photos of the finished piece by next weekend!

Etsy.

Yesterday I spent a couple of hours updating etsy - www.etrespicefinem.etsy.com
I've added some new pieces - next week I'll be shooting some photos of these guys being worn. I've also lowered the price of some older items that I only have one or two of. You can use the totally seasonal code SPRINGTIME to get 10% off everything!

Ring.

Silver spoons from Peru and quartz.

Silver dust from sawing.

Finished sawing!

Annealing.

Shaping and sizing the ring.

On Wednesday I started making a silver ring in my jewellery class. I managed to snap a few photos while I got started. First I sawed the top and bottom off the spoon. I annealed the piece of silver and passed it through rollers a couple of times to flatten it and make it longer. When it was the right thickness I hammered it to straighten it, annealed it again and shaped it into a ring. Next I need to solder it together and then hammer it to the perfect shape/size. Apparently it's better to make it a size or two smaller as the silver stretches while you're hammering it into shape.   I also need to make the simple setting I designed for the quartz and then I'm done! Once I've got a supply of these stones I'll be selling these rings via etsy.
