I'm in love with the new Deer Tick album. If you haven't heard it you can stream it for free here. I guess they're best described as alt-country/Americana with a load of balls. Check it out! And here's one of the guys from the band talking about his favourite things over on spin.com

Giggle pants.

I love this photograph of myself and Hazel. Probably 'cause I'm feeling a little fed up right now but this photo reminds me that I do actually spend a lot of time laughing and having fun. 
I'm blaming the glumness on the changing of the seasons and the darkness. I wanted to go out and shoot some photos at sunset but it was so grey there wasn't really any point. 


I spent this evening looking through four years worth of photographs and it got me reminiscing. Not even about anything in particular. But I got a little sad as a lot of my best girl friends don't live in the same city as me. In fact most don't live in the same country. Good job we have the internet now right?


Then my brain went on one of those roller-coaster rides of of thinking about random things. Which reminded me that the only roller-coasters I can stand to go on are the Wild Mouse ones! But they're not real roller-coasters are they? Probably not. And then I thought about the nicest compliment anyone has ever paid me. Which might be 'you're the happiest person I know'. Anyone who spent any time with me towards the end of last year will surely be proud of how far I've come. That and I've got a 'solid handshake' apparently. It's funny how it's the little things that matter.

I. Instruments you play: Violin but it's been a while. I also have a ukulele - I wouldn't say I can play it though.

V. Vegetable you hate: I love veg. I mean I eat raw potatoes. That's how much I love it! But sprouts are the worst.  
W. What makes you run late: I put things down and then can't find them. My purse, my phone, my keys - just as I'm about to leave. Then I need to spend 5 minutes looking for them.
X. X-Rays you’ve had: Teeth and right shoulder. 
Y. Yummy food that you make: I make a damn good chilli.

Summer Crossing.

I always enjoy when bloggers post 'tours' of their homes! 

Unfortunately I decided to do this about five minutes after I'd emptied the contents of my bag all over the floor to find a piece of paper with some notes scrawled on it. Always the way! So instead of a proper tour I thought I'd take some shots of random things so you could get a feel for the place.

I haven't been on tumblr for quite a while but I decided to have a massive trawl through it the other evening.

Strike 84 - My Grandfather was a miner, I really want to get a mining related tattoo.

More than anything right now I'm so excited about the prospect of getting my dark room equipment set up again! I've got some old negatives from the 60s that I really want to print and I'm got an idea for a project I want to work on - hopefully I'll be making a start on that this Wednesday evening.
Of course when I start printing I'll scan them and put them up here!
