Lotherton Hall again...

I posted a few photos from Lotherton Hall a while back but then never got round to posting the rest! So here we go...

The gardens are beautiful.
Of course it rained.

That's my mum.

The rooms are named after different countries.

I wanted to take this home.

So I've read this on a few blogs that I frequent and I thought I'd do it myself as it's been nice learning a little bit more about people...

Beards.

While I was in London I had a genius idea. Make a beard porn blog! Cause who doesn't like beards?! Over pub food and cider the wife point out to me this had probably already been done. Turns out she was right! Sidenote - that tumblr features too many photos of the same two guys and not enough ice hockey players but whatever.
So I decided to have a beard of the week post every Friday. To get y'all in the mood for the weekend. And then maybe at the end of the year I'll have a competition where everyone can vote for their favourite. And the winner will get a mug with a photo of their favourite beard on. Or something. I haven't figured that part out yet! I'm open to suggestions.

Anyway! On with this weeks beard porn. The photo kinda speaks for it's self...

I had to include this... really? REALLY?! I don't want to live in a world where this is true.

Upper Metal Class.

Last month I was lucky enough to win this lovely necklace from Upper Class Metal. It's a piece I'd actually had my eye on for a while so I was especially stoked to win it! It's beautifully handmade from bronze and silver. When finances allow it I think I'll be treating myself to this lovely bracelet!

Visit.

I was in London for a brief visit last week. I managed to snap a few photos while pottering round.

Winter.

The wife is not allowed to be talking about winter already as she has only just launched her Autumn range of jewellery! I'm kidding of course - it's always good to plan things in advance. I've completely missed out on Autumn but I've been spending the last month or so thinking about my winter lines and looking at inspiration.

I started with silver chain, black tourmaline and herkimer diamonds. I don't have much interest in colour at the moment and this led to me joking that my inspiration was nuclear winter. Then I had a light-bulb moment! Much googling later and after reading about impact winter and volcanic winter. I had a concept for my winter range of jewelley! Having these images in my head has really helped give me some direction. I'm no longer looking at supplies and wanting to buy everything! I have a very clear idea in my head of what I want.

I'm still waiting for one or two things to be delivered but these are the stones I've been working with today...

White howlite slabs

Raw amethyst

Black tourmaline - Herkimer diamonds - Labradorite faceted rondelles

Hematite chevrons and circles

Grey agate - Purple aventurine

As you can see it's a lot of smoky colours and raw or faceted stones.

If all goes to plan I'll spend the rest of this week and next making. The next two weeks shooting a lookbook and stock photos and then get everything launched on etsy on October 1st!

Night.

This was a fun night of smoking drinking smoking drinking repeat repeat repeat. I then walked home barefoot. Bought some chips. Burnt my mouth. Kicked something by accident. Passed out on top of the duvet with my clothes on. Woke up to a foot covered in blood and the worst the world is ending in my head wine hangover ever.

Life.

Books. I just re-jigged my bookcase and filled up another shelf.

Bed! New pillows from Ikea.

New shoes.

New (old) mirror.

Wall.

Things have been a bit quiet round here recently due to insane busyness. Life has consisted of work work work gin gin gin 7am 3 hours sleep work work getting covered in beer inane questions about my tattoos taxi sleep wake-up feel dead inside work what day is it kill me now etc.
In two weeks my crazy job situation will be sorted and regular blog posting with start again!

I was inspired by this post from my lovely wife - http://icefloe.blogspot.com/2011/09/moving-in.html She's just moved in with one lucky guy and two cute pets and posted some photos taken in the new gaff. I've been pottering round my flat today after popping to Ikea with my mum so I thought I'd take a few photos.
