God I love photos of space. Especially nebulae. It's the colours and the shapes.
Also they really make me understand the feeling behind this quote...
You develop an instant global consciousness, a people orientation, an intense dissatisfaction with the state of the world, and a compulsion to do something about it. From out there on the moon, international politics look so petty. You want to grab a politician by the scruff of the neck and drag him a quarter of a million miles out and say, "Look at that, you son of a bitch."
— Edgar Mitchell, Apollo 14 astronaut, People magazine, 8 April 1974
The idea that these are images of collapsing clouds of gas and dust that are slowly making new stars and planetary systems is just mind blowing. If you can't see just how fucking awesome and amazing these are it's quite possible you have no soul.
These are all stunning!
ReplyDeletei LOVE pictures of space and i could look at them all day. they're so beautiful though, it's hard to believe they're even real. back in june i took chris to see hubble 3D (a movie with images from the hubble telescope) for his birthday and i wanted to cry it was so beautiful! the pictures it took could zoom so far in that you could see inside the nebula. seriously, it was to gorgeous to even explain, and the fact that the screen was several stories high, and it was 3D just made it that much better! if they have it in the uk, you should check it out!
ReplyDeleteThese are so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI love pictures of space so much, too. If money was no object, I'd wear them:
